Sloppy Discs is pop-up video rental in Minneapolis.

Renting is simple.

Pay $15 up front—think of it as a deposit or one-time membership fee. Rent movies for $5 each. Keep them for up to two weeks. Return them at a future pop-up, or at The Main Cinema during their regular business hours. Box office opens 30 minutes before the first scheduled show of the day. If your discs come back late, it costs $10 to renew your standing.

Our usual locations are:

Broken Clock Brewing / Curioso Coffee Bar NE
usually on Saturday mornings

The Main Cinema
usually on Tuesday nights

We have around four or five pop-ups every month, plus additional events like film screenings, movie swaps, and hangouts. Keep an eye on the "Calendar" tab at the top of this site, sign up to get emails, or follow us on Instagram to make sure you hear about everything we do.

Each pop-up features around 100 titles. The selection is never the same twice! The library is mostly HD Blu-ray with some 4K and even good old DVDs.

Who am I, and what am I doing here? I'm Emmet! Local film enthusiast and physical media booster. I started Sloppy Discs because I felt burnt by the broken promises of streaming and wanted to restore a little IRL magic to watching movies at home. Sloppy Discs patrons love talking to me about what's new, sharing what they've been watching lately, and getting recommendations.
